Is it possible to eat an elephant?
One reason why most people struggle with Maths is that they are trying to fill their mouth with everything at the same time. Obviously anyone who tries to do that will choke and throw it all up. It will literally be impossible to get that much of an elephant down at once.
Most people and children struggle with Maths because they are trying to eat the elephant at one go. In the case of the children, it is not their fault, they are just trying to do what they have been told do, either by their teachers or by their parents.
A person can, however, eat an elephant if the attempt is to eat it one bite at a time.
At EasyMathskills.Com, we aim to help your child take that minute bite at a time. We understand the importance of them getting those basic principles right before moving onto the more complex things. We make Maths simple. We make it simple for you and your child. Maths is built precept upon precept. It is absolutely crucial to “get” the current principle and practise enough, before moving on to the next thing. That’s just the only way to do it right.
A child cannot move on to multiplication if they don’t understand and don’t completely get addition. No one can move to on to doing division if they don’t completely get comfortable with multiplication and subtraction and addition. This is what I mean by “Maths is built precept upon precept”.
People or children who have just memorised formulae without fully understand each concept start to struggle very quickly later when they start doing more advanced Mathematics. So no matter how long it takes, everyone can improve their Maths skills and if they spend long enough practising, with the right amount of guidance, they will understand the principles behind each concept.
What do you think? Have you or your children had any similar experiences? Leave me a comment; I would love to hear from you!
