Maths has proven to be one of the most useful classes at school because this science and skill is the foundation of many other sciences. If you are good at maths you probably won’t have any trouble pursuing the career you have always wanted and get a high-paying job. However, too many children today find mathematics frustrating and difficult. What is interesting is that this feeling is not quite natural because in most cases it is the parents or teachers that make them feel this way. Many parents unfortunately have a negative attitude toward maths and this feeling is transferred to their children.
We parents must do everything we can to support our children when it comes to the learning process, especially with maths. There are many people who are wondering how to find the perfect incentive for their child, so they can get their children more interested in this subject. The fact is that there are lots of ways, as each child is different and different things motivate them. I talk here about some things that would help parents find the perfect incentive to improve their child’s success in maths.
First of all, you must think about the rewards. Motivate them with something that they find attractive. There are many things that children like and you should probably know what your child likes. Some children like ice cream while others like games. The price doesn’t have to be a material one. You can also promise to visit interesting places and if need be, and if the child is older you can use cash prizes too with a points system. When you offer some kind of incentive, something a child really likes, they will start wanting to learn maths as soon as possible. Sometimes its like magic. There is no doubt it is always a good idea to motivate children with incentives. Ethically bribe them if need be!
Another thing that you should do is to make the learning process more fun. Maths is contained different games. However, you should look for more social games and games that have deep play value. You can always find games in which they can acquire new knowledge without knowing it <wink, wink>. It’s important to find ways to make practising maths more fun. Even if you are not a great fan of mathematics, just think about all the opportunities that great maths skills will bring to your children. The biggest one is self-confidence. Children are curious and if they don’t get the answer or support they need, they will easily lose interest and motivation to learn maths.
Sometimes having a conversation can be sufficient to encourage them. The incentive can come in the form of praises. You can praise their work whenever they find solution for some number problem or when they show progress. Support them and remind them that the knowledge they already have has helped them solve that problem. This way they will learn that the more knowledge they have the better.
As you can see, it is not difficult to encourage your child to love maths. If its going to be, its up to you.
